What is Will Thinking

2006/07/11

If you have a motorcycle and think Fred Phelps is a bastard, read on...

From mildlydisturbed over at LiveJournal...

at it again.
Although the request is mainly aimed at the motorcycle crowd, fairly certain the 4 wheeled crowd might want to know about this as well

This here is a press release from the - aka godhatesfags.com. You may have heard of the , or his loony followers. They're up to their old antics.

The short of it is on Wednesday July 12th, 2006 they are going to be in Oak Grove / , KY protesting outside the memorial ceremony of Pvts. Tucker and Menchaca, who you may know as the 2 soldiers who were kidnapped, abducted, taken POW, and then tortured to death, mutilated, and their bodies booby-trapped with explosives. Visual identification of the bodies was impossible, they could only be identified via DNA testing.

Basically the family and friends are going to get to go to the memorial and see signs that their sons died at the hands of an angry god and are now burning in hell.

Should you be interested in doing so, a group called The will be lining up along Hwy 41 to display flags and otherwise present a non-violent no-sign no screaming counter protest to the Westboro Baptist Church.

I wish I could make it to this, but I don't know if I could contain my anger towards these pieces of shit and not acknowledge their presence. I have heard several of their piece of shit opinions in discussions on other offroad forums and while I know everyone in this country has their rights, I wouldn't have a problem taking away their right to live if given the chance. I can't remember for sure if it was this bunch or not, but I know there were protestors at a soldier's funeral in Cheatam County a while back. They were only allowed parking about a mile down the road so that they would have a long run back to their cars. From what I heard, there were hardly any men there, these guys sent women there to protest for them, and they are probably lucky they did. I know people have their right to disagree with the government, but these guys are doing their job to fight for this country and deserve respect from the citizens of the country for their service. They have the right to protest, but to protest at a funeral should be something that they are shot on site for. I know for a fact that if it was a member of my family I wouldn't have a problem spending the rest of my life in prison if someone like this showed up. I can't honestly say that I support the gays in this country because I am pretty much always uncomfortable around them, but they are gay, whether they want to be or not and they are going to be gay whether we support them or not. I would take a country full of gay's over pieces of shit like Fred Phelps and his followers any day. That is enough of my ranting for now. Apologies for the language.

Things like this are so incredibly frustrating. I used to get angry, but it happens so much every day, that it's just become confusing and disappointing. I wish I didn't have to claim myself among the other human beings, but I'm sure all beings out there have their equal share of limited thinkers. I've never held a difference in my mind between gays, straights, different races, etc. I just wasn't raised that way, and trying to imagine what it's like to be someone that believes that way is just impossible. I don't really have a problem with this. However, I also have no ability to understand what it's like to be someone who believes in a god. For a significant part of the time this bothers me, because religion has been, throughout history, much more than just the opiate of the masses. To understand the mindset of the True Believer, the deciple, and the "unenlightened" despot would give one such a key to the human experience -- that information would just be invaluable.
Anyway, when I read stories like this, and am reminded of how worm-like some people make their human experience -- on purpose -- it makes me think that maybe it's okay that I never inherited the "god gene".
I know, I know, that is a little harsh. Many of our slaughtered servicemen and women are devout believers and more than respectible. I personally know a lot of religious people whom I look up to in many ways. And, just as I don't credit the religion for making the good people good, I can't blame the religion for making the bad ones bad.
I really just don't understand anything.
great.

You make some good points there. I do believe in God, but I think it is mostly just to give a little hope that there is something better than this crap once I am dead and gone. I like to have the hope that I will see my friends and family that have passed on some time in the future, but I don't try to preach to anybody and I don't make many statements about any of that being true. I use to be pretty stupid as far as race and things like that, but where I grew up there was pretty much only one race. These days, I don't see race and color when I am talking to someone or hanging out with them, and I try not to judge anyone. I do not like to be around gay guys, but what they do on their on time is there business and none of mine and I don't have a problem with them as long as I don't have to watch them having sex. Trying to keep them from doing it in their own home is no different than telling me I can't have sex with women anymore, there is no way to stop it. And to protest a soldier's funeral simply because the country he is fighting for supports gays is just morally wrong, and flat out stupid. How soon they forget all the other rights they have that that soldier died to protect. Because of this, in my eyes, these protestors have NO rights, not even the right to live and breathe the same air as me. In a case like this, if it was a member of my family that they were protesting, there is absolutely no doubt that I would take at least some of their lives and wouldn't have a problem going to jail for it or even being killed, and it wouldn't matter to me where I ended up after I died, nowhere, heaven, hell, I wouldn't care.
